More adventures in photogrammetry. Part of the rear wall of my house. Using the Photoscan mesh to bake the normal map and then applying that to the texture (1024x1024) on a flat plane. Would need some tweaking to make it tileable and the texture has not come out so good (so much to learn).

A long time since a post. Progress is slow due to a small child and long work hours. But anyway, I took Mr Whippy's advice and created a reference Z surface for all the roads, including the side roads, on the circuit then created a physical mesh that only covers the track that's driven on.

Since then I've finished all the kerbs and pavements. Now I'm focusing on adding all the buildings and boundary walls. With the occasional distraction of making assets like bus shelters, bollards, and road signs.

As you can see we are not in a hurry around here.. :D. So there is plenty of time, enjoy the journey :).
Perhaps the only deadline is AC2.

Anyway, I'm enjoying it. Modelling the various objects, struggling with textures. But most of all how much more of my home town I've noticed when looking in the sort of detail needed to recreate it.

I've just done a quick tally of buildings around the short circuit (1.1 mile/1.8km)

Including the pits there are 215 buildings immediately adjacent to the circuit and many more visible down side streets or tall buildings visible above the street side ones.

When I'm finished I'll have a comprehensive selection of building styles.

Road signs.
Not happy with the galvanised steel texture, and the signs need some dirt etc but still adds some familiarity to the roads.
