KS Editor - No color on texture.

I'm trying to follow the basic car tutorial but when I get to the KS Editor step, the texture is in grayscale. When it loads, it's black but if I turn up the ambient I can see the texture in grayscale so I know it's there. The diffuse just refuses to load. Is there a particular shader I need to set it to? I don't see that mentioned in the tutorial.

Edit: Apparently I needed to go into illumination tab and change PPfx to default. It was on B&W (I didn't do this, it's like that by default for some reason)
