SOLVED Lap count trouble

I am in the process of building my first circuit track and have been unable to solve a puzzling problem.

AC_HOTLAP_START is behind the last corner. If you start there and pass AC_TIME_01L-R, it is normal for Lap01 to start there, right?
However, for some reason, Lap02 starts at that time, and the short section from AC_HOTLAP_START to AC_TIME_01L-R is counted as Lap01.Moreover, it incorrectly records a time of about 10 seconds at that time as the best lap.
This means that no matter how hard I try after that, I will never be able to record a true best lap.

Am I missing some setting?

You need at least 2 timing gates - 0 being your start/finish line
AC_TIME_0_L
AC_TIME_0_R
AC_TIME_1_L
AC_TIME_1_R

Thanks for the reply.
I only had one pair of those on my track.I'll add another pair and check the numbers.
Looking forward to trying it out tonight.
