Small modification to ks_nurburgring required, will pay solid dollars :)

dear assetto corsa modding community

i am an avid real life drifter and use assetto corsa with VR to prepare for new tracks and to practice in general.

one of the more important tracks i drive on is the nurburgring GP course, specifically the "mühlebachschleife" which is a variation / section of the Nurburgring GP course.

I would love to practice this track layout in VR to prepare for upcoming events , however I am curretly unable to do so because the section which connects the Schumacher-S corner to the Ford corner is closed off in Assetto Corsa.

I tried using the editor to open the barrier up, even managed to make the barrier disappear but when i export my modified track, it will then crash during loading. Most likely I'm doing something wrong.

I would prefer if somebody could just edit KS_Nurburg according to my attached graph (just open up the one section painted in green)... and export it in a functional state.

I'll gladly paypal 20 USD to somebody who would do that for me :)

See attached picture for details. The road I need to use is actually there but it's blocked off by barriers and concrete elements on the top. The elevation etc. are all correct.

many thanks for any help!

Hi @Zuridrift , welcome to the forums :).

Modifying original content would be against Kunos terms of use. It's true that we are not affiliated with Kunos in any way, but still we try to respect their work and keep the forum clean.

Having said that, you are just asking, so technically you didn't do anything wrong :). Therefore I will leave this topic (and the other) open. However, if you do find somebody to give you a hand, please keep it private and not share the modified version publicly :). Thank you in advance.

Is that area open in ANY* configuration ? If it is, it _should_ be doable using layouts, so not even breaking the EULA ?

*not home now, so can't check it

I'll do it for 200 :D
At least we know that you can do quality :nerd:

Modding or distributing ?
If you don't distribute, I think it's legal in most countries, so EULA would be invalid.

I'm sure it's legal if you don't tell them

edit: I'm not sure I want to do this now, how do you fold a solid dollar to fit your wallet?

...I'll do it for floppy dollars.

And if the EULA says that you become their slave ?

There have been many lawsuits about console/game modifications, and in almost all countries the result is that you can modify things you own.
So then, you can also hire someone to modify it.

There are many illegal clauses in EULAS ... and law is always over EULAS.
Dude, I'm not interested about your nonsense. I only provided an answer to your question. You can always go and sue Kunos for those illegal clauses. Good luck!

Before this goes over board, point is: what you do at home (or PM) it's your business. Just please don't share it on this forum if it involves modifications of Kunos stuff. Thank you :nerd:.

@luchian, you are right, if someone makes that variant of the circuit, he should send it privately to him, and not publish it here

That's not how it works, what has already happened many times is like this:
  • You make something that violates the TOS, because you know it's illegal and you don't need to comply
  • The company sues you for violating their TOS
    • A) You stop doing it because you don't have money for a legal battle
    • B) You go to court and Win after a long legal battle
In fact they don't sue you normally, they just send you a Cease & Desist letter, and if you ignore it, then they analyze if they are going to sue you.

This happened recently with the GTA mod OpenIV, they removed the mod just because the Cease & Desist, because he had no money for the legal battle.
Then the community went against R*, and they reversed it.

TOS/EULAs are often abusive, I don't know why you defend them always !!!!!
In some cases is ok to defend them, but you have to analyze it's case before telling people "That's goes against the TOS", you look like robots.

well there`s no need to fight or insult people over it either way.
I think we need to fight people who behave as if the were kuno's lawyers instead of being neutral ...
Luchian's point of view is neutral, but other people are not.

I just tryed to clarify what can be done, and what can't, from a legal perspective.

And for insults, I don't know what do you mean.

I'm not talking about the forum rules, i'm talking about preaching "you can't do that" ...

For the forum, I understand totally their position, even if it's legal, you risk a lawsuit and expending a lot of money on it !!!!

If it was my forum, I'd delete all content that could bring me problems ;)

+1 Delete the thread, the OP joined 4 months ago. made 2 identical posts and disappeared, if he hasn't got what he wants via PM by now he never will.

Why delete it ? :)
I think it sparked a very interesting (and informative) discussion about IP in general. And speaking about it, is not illegal :p. On the contrary, hope more people will post about their experiences or expertise. Maybe we also have attorneys reading the forum
