I did, 54.5 in Ferrari 458. Just as your reference. Track has real length and width. And check TV camera I did to (F3).

Do you guys know what would be the best and easy way of aligning tree line to the world?
I know I could do the splines and align to them (or create plane objects from spline), but it would be hard to do the splines. Is there any way you guys know?
Like kunos did on some tracks, like Spa, which has tree lines even in spiral.

What about just cutting the land where you would want the tree lines, then select the new edges, then extrude up, done.

Or do I missunderstand what you need ?

You understood well. Cutting would be fine, so I can get edges. But this is a lot of work. I need to plant lots of tree lines. I was thinking if there is any other way.

My tree lines are all done with splines. Y trees are all placed by hand with shrinkwrap constraint too hold them to the land mesh. I copy a cluster of say 8 trees at a time. I do all the same trees at all the same size at first then I do a random scale on all of them as well as some random rotation. I then random select say 15% at a time and link all of my base trees. I'll also make a special texture with bright colors for each tree so I can spot easily how random the propagation is.

Thx Lilski.
For Y trees I use Scatter modifier in 3ds max for more or less automatic locating. I just planted few thousands of them. And did 2 tree lines around the circuit, a few more still need to do, to cover all hills.

I tried particle too, but damn, object cannot be converted to polys. Do you know maybe how to convert it?
So I went back to using scatter.
I am sure doing it manually is still the best way, but way more time consuming.

I`d like to know something about the "3d" trees, Y shape. My trees just do not have same colors as AC`s do, where top is brighter, than the bottom. And there is not much of a difference between the sides which point towards the sun and those how are not facing the sun. In my case, there is more of a difference.
How do you do that? Where should the pivot point be? And the normals? I tried lots of combinations, but the trees just do not have same diffuse color.

I set all the 3d trees with the name like "KSTREE_GROUP_MYNAME_1", but here is the result. All the trees are stretched in some strange ways.
Anyone has any clue why?

PS: Maybe th problem was that I was using same name for the 3rd part (like MYNAME) always the same. Will change so each group will have different name. Let you know if it works.

YeS!!!
It was the tree names. You must not have the same name for all the groups the same.
It must not be like:
KSTREE_GROUP_A_1, KSTREE_GROUP_A_2, KSTREE_GROUP_A_3,...

But it must be like:
KSTREE_GROUP_A_1, KSTREE_GROUP_B_2, KSTREE_GROUP_C_3,... (or with same number, didnt try that).

Hey

After watching few videos of modded tracks, I feel like my tarmac is looking bad compared to what other people made. Is there a specific configuration of material settings and values, to make the road look better?
