I'd say a one man team working on this full time will be about 2020 at the earliest haha :D ;)

If I were the OP I'd be focussing on roughing out and then make a small area nice quality, and then get buy-in from others to start up-detailing all the roughouts.
Iirc that is how SrIdanco (sp?) managed to get his city course done within a year or so, and that's probably 1/3rd the size of this one :D

All that said it's not impossible to do it on your own. It can be really fun to do it on your own. It just takes a lot of time :(

Sorry if I'm impatient but this project deserves impaciency. What sort f releasedate are you thinking?
And I don't know if I missed the part in the thread, but I remember a garbage truck standing i the middle of the road so our hero has to swerve into the incoming traffic-lane. Will you replicate things like that, too?
I've only been working on this track on and off for the last 4 weeks, initially when I started I had a lot of free time but now I'm full time freelancing again, I only had a few hours on this in the last two weeks.

Downside of freelancing is after spending 12 hours staring at a computer screen, if I get some free time the last place I want to be is in front of a PC screen, on a mountain bike or sat in a bar is much more appealing ;)

Release date? ...when it's done.

Cost? ...Haven't a clue.

I would love to work on this full time, but obviously I need to pay the bills, so freelancing trumps anything else I might be doing.

I'm a stickler for detail so yes, everything from the film will be in the track in some form or another, I've yet to research animation methods in tracks to move objects, flash lights etc, from what I've seen it's pretty basic stuff and a pain in the ass workflow.

I've a few ideas that work in my head, but yet to try them in a track.

I'm doing it on my own, not for any selfish or arrogant reasons, simply that as a freelancer I continually have to put up with "clients who think they know best" pissing me around and continually cramping my style on projects.

They stress me out beyond belief, I need regular breaks and track modding is pure freedom.

I'm not greedy, as long as I have enough money to keep the wolves at bay I'm happy, and as soon as I have that money, clients get the middle finger and I'm back on the track modding. :D

Kinda the same here... though usually my clients are all ok.

In the end I'm happy if my client is, and I get paid... assuming they don't get me past 12hr/day for longer than 60hrs in one block... after that I start to burn out.

Totally agree on the track though. They can be amazing fun in down-time... just honing skills, learning new ones, etc. Even if they never get finished I've enjoyed building and learning on all the ones I've ever started :)

My clients aren't bad, I just don't like being told what to do , or being at anyone's beck and call ;), so technically I create my own stress.:ninja:

I've been rendering for 48 hours, overloaded with caffeine, unwashed and my eyes are inside out...there has to be a healthier way to make a living.

Ohh la la !!! C'est magnifique !!!!!

This is really amazing, not like the paris I downloaded for Assetto, I didn't recognize anything, looked more like San Francisco !!!!

Are you going to do an Urban Circuit or free roaming ?

Cheers, still undecided on layouts other than the main Porte Dauphine to Sacré-Cœur route from the film, there are so many areas with potential.

Place du Carrousel will be the 1976 layout, good images of that era and area are hard to find, this is the only one I've found so far other than satellite imagery from 1945.

Although it could also be a more recent layout, Place de la Concorde, through Tulierres Gardens and around Place du Carousel:

Another layout possibility:

Endless connotations really, but I have many months of mesh building before I even get close to deciding on layouts.

You're gonna reach Sacre-Coeur ? From Porte Dauphine ? Oh Mon Dieu!
I though the area covered would be smaller !!!!! :nerd:

BTW, I didn't know this was based on a film, I'm gonna look if I can watch it !!!!

The link I posted above is the whole film.
And you should definitely watch it!

Are you doing the Landmarks ?
Because in Paris almost every single building is a Landmark, that could take years ... many years !!!!!
