SOLVED How to save Track kn5 without Textures

For Car LOD Models we can save kn5 without textures using ksEditor.
Can i use this for track models as well?

At first i thought, lets make texture.dds duplicates 1 pixel size.
But this means of course some extra work and folder structure etc.

Will there be issues when i save Track Models as "Car (No Textures)" kn5?
Is there maybe another solution which i don't have in mind, yet?

Simple Reason: Reduce Track File Size

The reason saving car KN5 without textures exist is because the later stages of car LODs will use the material from the first model. The same principles don’t apply to tracks.

Where would you be getting the textures for your track materials?

In another kn5. 100km² force me to split into multiple fbx cause ksEditor can't handle the size.
which means for example i have 2 tree.fbx/kn5 with same textures. 400MB kn5 twice... which is stupid.

You can have 100 textures on 50 materials in 25 kn5's. Texture only gets loaded once from first kn5.

Another example, i have couple of Car Models in different Layouts differently placed.
In Main.kn5 and then additionally in Drift Layout kn5. In 3 different Rally kn5's, In Race Layout and so on...

I have a Color LUT texture (to reduce amount of textures and materials) which are used on Buildings and other things. Its used in multiple kn5's too.

There are textures for Curbs or Sidewalks which are used in terrain.kn5 and in building.kn5... etc.

I could go on...

I just never expected to go that wide... Never expected to expand the track this level...

Then just assign a very small null texture to all materials in the second KN5. you just need one.
Can be easily done through persistence file with "search and replace"

OK, lets make it quick... Export my additional vegetation.kn5 as "Car (No Texture)" works!
Trees are still wind effective! Thats great. Reduced size from 417 MB to 11 MB... Success for now.
I will monitor this - In Case any strange things will occure.

Tho it works great for my Vegetation kn5's i need to find another solution for buildings and terrain and ... kn5. cause there are not ALL textures shared. I guess then its realy the best way to duplicate the textures who are double and make them just 1 Pixel...

Car KN5 can be used with tracks no problem, at least with CSP enabled, not sure how vanilla handles this...

The only difference im aware of is car KN5s retains hierarchy of nodes and meshes, if they exist.

Yeah, good point. At least at this moment it does not seem to be an issue.
My brain is not capable of creating a scenario where it could be a problem, yet :D
But when i run into it, i hopefully will remember :oops:
