QUESTION Moveable objects in online races?

Hi all,

I'm only using AC for hotlapping/practicing, and have no experience of online races (I feel that I'm not consistent enough to not ruin it for everyone, and since I play in VR my fps would probably suffer a lot from multiple opponents).

However, I had an idea for a track, and I want it to be accessible also for those who enjoy playing online. Does anyone have experience with movable pobjects (cones, etc) in online games? When I play a practice session and choose "restart session" all the movable objects keep their position from my last run, so any cones that I hit are still out of place. Is there even a "restart session" option in online play, and does anyone know if pobjects that have been moved are restored when the session is restarted, just like in offline play?

Grateful for any advice!

While googling, I found an old post from 2017 claiming that trackside objects such as cones aren't synchronized between players in online races. If your opponent drives past a cone he just passes through it, while he sends the cone flying on his own PC.

Does anyone know if this is still true? As long as the number of moveable objects is low, it seems like an easy task to sync it between players just like cars positions are synced. But I also assume that it hasn't been considered very high priority by Kunos.

If it's still true that object positions are not shared between players, then I can stop wasting time on a project of mine, but I'm not sure how to test it.

Export the track in whatever stage it is, make a server, ask a friend to join, drive over cones :D.

I've found the "setting up a server" tutorial, but is there a "making friends" tutorial?

On a serious note, I only have one friend who's playing AC, and he's not available for testing. That's why I was hoping that someone here had been racing on Monza, and either seen opponents take out the styrofoam signs or pass right trough them.

Based on what I've found, though, I'm afraid that all pobjects are only treated locally in AC. I think that they are synced in ACC.
