Hello forum users,

I am sure you are all aware by now about the FCC plans to control the "bandwidth" of what we see/use online (simply put). So, ACM would like to participate somehow and join/encourage the protests from all over the world. One way we were thinking to do this, is by adding a widget (acting like a pop-up) where you can enter your (some) contact data to join the tens of thousands of other e-manifestants.

It would look something like this:

Now the question:
Would you find it annoying ?
Or bearable giving the cause ?

Would really appreciate some answers/oppinions (or even suggestions, if you know a better way).

One battle is lost, but it's not over yet.

The FCC just voted to gut net neutrality rules, letting Internet providers like Verizon and Comcast control what we can see and do online with new fees, throttling, and censorship. But we can still get Congress to stop this—by passing a "Resolution of Disapproval" to overturn the FCC vote.

UPDATE:

It’s official: there are now 50 senators supporting the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the FCC’s repeal of net neutrality.

We need just one more senator to win.

Lobbyists for Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T are stunned. But now that we’re so close, they’ll be hitting the Senate with everything they’ve got to try to stop us from getting the last vote we need.

The momentum we have right now cannot be overstated. No one expected the CRA to steamroll through the Senate like this. Now all 47 Democrats, both Independents, and Susan Collins (R-ME), are lined up to reverse the FCC’s decision to allow Internet Service Providers to censor content, slow or throttle sites, or shake us down for more fees.

If we can get the final vote we need in the Senate soon, we’ll hit the ground running when we take the fight to the House of Representatives, where we already have more than 80 original cosponsors.

But once the FCC’s terrible new rules enter the Federal Register, we’ll only have 60 legislative days to get them overturned.

Now that the fight is in full swing, we still urgently need to :

• Update the BattleForTheNet.com action page and call tool to make it easy for everyone to contact their senators and representatives about the CRA.
• Roll out our VoteForNetNeutrality.com pledge, with a goal of getting millions of Internet users opted in to receive text alerts with their lawmakers’ net neutrality voting records.
• Make improvements to our “Political Scoreboard” that shows where every member of Congress stands on net neutrality, and how people in key districts can get involved.
• Connect phone and text messages to lawmakers. The more people we can get to contact their member of Congress the better.

So, looks like it's the last straight.
Ajit Pai’s all-out attack on net neutrality was officially published in the Federal Register.

That means there are now just 60 legislative days to pass a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution in the Senate to block the FCC repeal. The clock is ticking, but the good news is that just one more vote is needed to win.

What's planned:

• Operation: #OneMoreVote—a massive online protest with participants like Tumblr, Reddit, and Etsy helping flood the Senate with phone calls, emails, tweets, and meetings.
• Simultaneous in-person rallies at key Senate offices across the country.
• A new tool to mobilize small businesses to pressure Congress.
• And a way for millions of Internet users to easily take action through text messages.

As you can imagine, any action comes with a cost. Should you wish to support it (time/money), just go there and you'll find your way.
