So.. did some testing. Light is still creeping in at corners. So my "new" approach doesn't really bring much (except maybe for a lower no of polys). Well, at least we know.

yep, nice bridge building man ! whats its polygon cost per say. ? I certainly not bothered by it, I expect to loose 200K of mine presently through doing the barrier objects much better with an optimised spline geometry. thing is, theres another bridge that kinda does need that structural detail underneath it. I wonder if these parts could be transferable etc.

No probs here. Final export will be uder 5k, so basically peanuts :D

Good point about the other - deffo needs detail in structure.

Hahaha, exactly :D. But he was really a nice guy so I would very much lile to put that logo up.

Don't worry about timing though.. For about 10 days now, I'm in a clinic with my wife and we won't be home before end of July. So.. take your time, enjoy "outside" :).

PS: thanks to the above photos, I see I did the structure wrong. So it'll be back to the drawing board :d

Well, in AC it will come with some limitations of course. AFAIK, AC does not have chassis flex, and I would imagine that would influence the driving and the "feel" of a kart.

@cercata I will give yours a try this weekend. I have raced 31bhp kart IRL, and it is wild.

and a bit better explanatory image of what ive discovered with 3d grass. again 100m x 100m area. (wish id make the grass to scale) Ive exagerated the light and put the 3d grass on dark background so you can see it, so that's not a transparency blend with what is below :)

Hey Pix, sorry to dig up older LRP progress pics, but its one of my inspirations!

The 3D grass, you mentioned you are using a different type of variation system for their color to match whats underneath. Could you explain how different it is than the standard kSGRASS shader - 3dgrass diffuse - random variation practice? How is it capturing the diffuse map from the main grass mesh?

it is KS_GRASS shader I was using. and the variation map is the main diffuse for the whole land, it was never setup to be used like this. I just managed to make it work.
