HI MLT. Amazing job!!! Really enthusiast of Ferrari and Fiorano track!!! Can you tell me when you think it will be downloadable and the price of it? Thanks
Hi there, glad you like it :)
I need to work on the track now, it probably will be a month of work. Then need to finish texturing the surrounding buildings and landscape. So most probably this will be available for download by the end of February, let's hope it can take less time. There will be no charge here whatsoever!
Hope the scheduled date doesn't scare people off. :D

Super work, I think there's no reason to be scared by the date, we have many things to do and I have many training on nurburgring to do too. Moreover, it's always better to wait for something really polished, beautiful and well done than to have just now a poorly done track mod like the horrible ones that sometimes I found in the net, you're images seems art storyboards, kudos to you, Enzo will be proud!!

Thanks for your uplifting message :) It makes modding even more enjoyable to get such compliments.

Ok, small update but the right start.
With my obsession for perfection, and following Luchan's rigor in this area, I had to start from scratch again o_O! (that'd be like the 5th time, oh boy)

What this time is different is that I was able to get my hands on the FVA track! This has allowed me to create the following path which will be used as a spline for the extrusion of the track.
track_center_spline.jpg

The path is the track's center, so I will have to do the same for each side of it, in order to get the correct camber. Nevertheless these 2 measurements, center and sides, will allow me to recreate the track really close to the real life thing.:D
I've discovered quite a few things in comparison to RTB Google extraction, mainly:
a) heights are its weakness
b) but on the other hand, the top view is very close to matching the real thing.

Well let's see how it goes from here. I can just see the shitload of work ahead of me

EDIT: I just did a layout match up to see the differences.
test_overlay3.jpg

As you can see the Google version is not that accurate nonetheless it's a whole lot better than the FRL track. If you ask me I find the FRL track a bit insulting. o_O, yup!

That's it for today, tonight, whichever. Tomorrow is chill day so see you guys next year :p

there is a fully updated for AC verison of Fiorano. but yours is certainly more....... not illegal .
You mean there is already one out there?
I do always take my approach even if it's a scanned track. :D . Nothing like doing things oneself.
I might be able to upload some little progress before new year's eve.
Cheers!

EDIT: for instance there are some areas of FVA which I think could improve quite a bit in terms of polys and cleanliness.

So here I have been able to extract the side measurements of the track and left them ready for making the splines.

The interesting things start to show in the side views:

I've circled in red the camber that without a doubt wouldn't be possible to know of its existence, unless you'd be a regular fiorano test driver or you had access to this data, so I'm excited because this an important detail that was missing in previous versions of the layouts.

Here working on the splines. This will take some time to lay out, but I'm trying to be as accurate as possible.
Good thing I can move vertices down to 0.01μm (micrometers) intervals. :p:p

Precise, but you could save yourself some time and only worry about x/y accuracy,
Then use the laser mesh to Z snap the splines to. You’ll get all the cambers and elevation you need on your new mesh.

Yes most definitely, though I'm still sorting out a few things.
Also I'm taking a little break from Fiorano ( a day or 2 at most ), it's getting too repetitive, so I'll be doing some little advancement on my other track.

Ok so I'm back with a small update. This time I have extruded the track around the spline, still there are a few corners which need some widening since I've used the minimal track width of 8.4 meters.

Here in the image you can see the FVA version (black) and my spline version (white). Still need to attach the track to the different heights.

Anyway there is still lots to do but we're heading in the right direction.

Expect more Fiorano today. I'm thinking of finishing the heights and width so I can start trying it out a bit before integrating this to the rest of the landscape mesh.

Extrude verges from the road, it will be easier to integrate the mesh then, also it will be easy to do transitional tarmac-grass object then :)

Hi there, not sure I'm following you correctly. What do you mean by: Extrude verges from the road, it will be easier to integrate the mesh then.

EDIT: you mean extrude the road in the y axis?

Hi, how is the work proceeding? :)
It's coming along, slowly though. Had some clients need web sites so it's been hard to get back to modding, from time to time I advance a bit here and there. It will be worth while though.

I've been watching this for a while now as a guest and it's astonishing.. are we possibly getting closer to a release date or at least a beta date?
