Just post it here, forget imgur.
Btw, some of your older posts lost images for the same reason. I know it must be easy/convenient to use such services, but when they decide to block embedding, you're left with a blank post.

if I had the same assets it would look the same, but surely you see how its the same thing effectively. its all speed tree man.

If that on the right is speed tree, then that software is, I don't know even how to describe how it is :D

Anyway, I think this thread got a bit derailed.

I'm just showing how its done in ac by kunos thats all. and I am prepared to prove it when the chat is misconception based.

it is the industry standard tree program. from Star wars the last Jedi to Assetto Corsa, its all there is out there afaik. GT sport uses it too, very confident about that. but they use the actual 3d versions and not the renders of them like we have to.

anyway if anyone wants a certain type of tree. I shall make it.. and upload it to the site for all to use with a frame.

I will never be convinced with this :D. On the right I assume that you have applied the alpha mask on the actual texture from the photo I have posted. It will fit (more or less) because well.. these trees are similar. But look at the branches, look at the way the pins are hanging, .. it's a real photo.

Anyway, indeed, the thread got derailed a bit. In the end, use whatever you guys like, I was just stating that I prefer real photos, that's all. If the fake ones are good enough to fool my eye, then fine. I'm not advocating for them out of principle.

ok man, but you have been looking at a speed tree image and really enjoying it, its not a photo man, speed tree is that good. and the hanging stuff is... speed tree.

some quick tree tests today. just basically scattered a bunch everywhere, no design at all, used blocktransform incorrectly too (over the whole area) so lighting is rather wrong, but I like the presence it gives on the track and its something to show progress. cant wait to design this properly. everything is so much more in context :)

on the surface its looking good, and I think ill go with it after a bit more tidying up, but its not the best modelling job. but I also think it doesn't need to be for my first track and first attempts at modelling stuff that will leave my hard drive.

Happy New Year to all the people involved in this thread :nerd:.

The scattering of the grass looks good. The texture is a bit too straight and uniform (speaking strictly about the closeup shots; from distance it looks ok tho). Since you cannot do too much in the model when laying the grass, I think this variation needs to come from the texture. Imo, the texture can contain blades that are curved in various directions. The good news is we are only speaking about textures, so this can be changed at any time easily.

I thought I was done with grass but today, ive just found a way to do it all better. and map it a completely different way meaning shaders can work even better.

removed.

32 \o/ theres a specific way to implement it though but lets just wait and see it in action. if it works its revolution in how to make ground grass.

Looks good but need to see wires and from more than a specific angle..some sort of cross pattern or a box base with frilly edges...similar to your hay bale?

Will be interesting to see it "live". Screenshots can look good and bad (depending on who's shooting). I SHALL NOT fall for that, I say ! :D

(looks good tho)
